Tribute & Message From The Family

Sam Aliotta was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 29, 1919 to Michele and Maria Aliotta.
Sam was the fifth born of eight siblings: Rose, Grace, Phyllis, Jack, Sam, Josephine, Jerome and Michael.
Sam's parents immigrated from Terrasini, Sicily in 1912. Due to the Great Depression, his family frequently moved around Detroit. Sam attended various public and Catholic schools on Detroit's east side.
Sam met his "honey bunch", Grace Miller, at Eastwood Park Ballroom. They began dating in 1939 and became lifetime dance partners on May 17, 1941. They were married 71 years before Sam lost the love of his life.
Their first child, Larry, was born in 1942. World War II separated the love birds. Sam's time in the Army was spent in the Pacific Theater. Sam returned home in December, 1945.
One year later, their family grew with the birth of their daughter, Nancy. In 1949, their youngest daughter, Marie, was born.
Sam was employed by Ford Motor Company from the late 1930s until his retirement in 1975.
Sam and Grace enjoyed their retirement between their home in Warren and their Lake Huron cottage. They also enjoyed their travels around the United States and to Italy.
Sam is survived by his three children and their spouses: Larry and Barbara Aliotta; Nancy and Melvin Ramos; and Marie Aliotta and John Welch. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Debbie Aliotta and Larry Aliotta, Jr.
Sam's motto that he said often to his family was: "Do it while you can."
In his everlasting words: "Let's go and say we went."
In lieu of flowers, please honor Sam by doing an act of kindness.
Visitation Friday 3-9pm with a 10am Funeral Service on Saturday at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Rd at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). In lieu of flowers, please honor Sam by doing an act of kindness. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Please share memories with the family at their "On-Line Guestbook" WujekCalcaterra.com

Did he live at the Sanctuary At Clinton Villa?? If he did this is the man that was very friendly and used to walk up and down 15 mile. He also would pick up trash as well.

Candle

There are so many memories throughout the years as "Popadoodle" was the Dad of my close, longest friend as we grew up together over 65 years. Some significant ones were of many sleepovers, eating late night snacks, happy times when all four of our parents visited especially during the holidays and, silly things that happened (good and bad) as we grew up. A sweet memory was of how tight he hugged me when my own Dad died with tears in his eyes as he said "Oh Annie" (he was the only one who could call me Annie). I know he is happy with Barney now and that our parents are enjoying the holidays all together again. Rest in Peace and God bless you. I love you Nancy and my prayers and thoughts are with you, Larry, Marie and the rest of the family. With hugs, Annmarie
