My deepest condolences to the Righetti family. I have allot of fond memories with Don. We went on many hunting and fishing trips with Don and Mark. He was a good friend. I will miss him dearly.

Rest in peace Don. You will be missed.

Although we had lost contact over the years I have many fond memories of my Uncle Don who was also my Godfather. During the years we lived in Michigan our families spent a lot of time together. Although I was fairly young one memory I have that stands out is when Uncle Don told my mother, his sister Joan Smolka, that he would provide the turkey for our Thanksgiving dinner. Never in her wildest dreams would she ever think he would bring a live turkey over to our house that she or my father, "Bud" Smolka, would have to prepare. The turkey, who of course became my pet, only stayed a day or two and was then returned to Uncle Don in the same state as he arrived. I don't however remember if I ate turkey that year or not. Other great memories include the many large family gatherings we attended with all of our more distant relatives in the area to celebrate the lives of family that passed, children that were born, marriages and other such memorable occasions.

I know how difficult this loss is for my Aunt Judy, cousins Carol and Steve, and all the grandchildren. I want you all to know that although we have not spoken in many years my thoughts are with you and perhaps we can take this occasion to reconnect again. Sending my love to you all . Michele

my memories of Donnie go way,way back. I met this nice boy in the mid 1940s . my father and his were both in the military at Selfridge Field .It was decided that there was a need for homes for the families left behind as our dads left for Europe. We all ended up in a project built by Selfridge Field They called it Selfridge Homes we called Splinterville. Why I do,not remember. Donnie was always a regular part of all the fun times I remember and just as caring and nice a person As he remained throughout his life.

My sincere condolences to my Aunt Judy and my cousins Mark and Carole Ann. I loved your father, my uncle, and always enjoyed visiting with him. We all had great times together when I was growing up at Selfridge. I am so sad and sorry that Uncle Don is gone. He lived a wonderful life and was very happily married with wonderful children. May God reunite him with my mom, Joan, and with his mother, Marion, and all the other relatives that have passed before. With love to Aunt Judy and cousins Mark and Carole Ann. Jim Smolka

I remember being an awkward teenager, not knowing what to say to any adults. Mr Righetti always made me feel at ease, and had a nice friendly smile. He seemed like an easy going man, and accepting of everyone. He will be missed very much ... with love, Linda Elert (Lardie)
