CWIK, Frank August 23, 2019, Age 95. Beloved husband of the late Rosemary. Loving father of Deborah (Joseph) Scordalakes. Cherished grandfather of Rebecca (Jeff) Lindemann and Amy (Mark) Sabor. Proud great grandfather of 5. Beloved brother of Irene and Jeanette. Frank was drafted at the age of 19 and served in the Army during World War II from 1943-1945. He was a member the 184th AAA gun battalion. He landed on Omaha beach on day two, defended London, England; Antwerp, Belgium; regions of Holland,and northern France, including Normandy and Paris. He finished his tour in the disarmament and occupation of Germany at the end of the war. For his tour of duty, he received several medals including five bronze stars (US), the Belgian fourregere, and the french legion of honor (the highest French order of merit awarded for excellent civil or military conduct.) He returned to the US following the war and married Rosemary Schmitt. He spent his next 30 years as a carpenter at General Dynamics before he retired at 62. Frank and Rosemary loved the outdoors and Frank was always busy. In his early years, they enjoyed camping, water skiing, hunting, fishing, traveling and woodworking. After retirement, Frank cared for a beautiful vegetable garden every summer. Frank and Rosemary were married for 70 years and have a daughter, two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Visitation Friday, August 30th from 3-8pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 36900 Schoenherr Road at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Funeral Saturday, August 31st at 9:30 am at St. Blase Catholic Church, 12151 15 Mile Rd., Sterling Heights MI 48312. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
