Tribute & Message From The Family

Catherine Prainito was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 11, 1929, to Gaspare and Giovanna Martinico. She passed away surrounded by her family at Rose Senior Living in Clinton Township, Michigan on December 8, 2019 at the age of 90.
Catherine "Kitty" was a loving, compassionate and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the beloved wife of Frank for 53 years, the loving mother of Kathleen (Michael) Sobczak, Marie, Sandra (David) Dixon, Joseph (Michele), and the late Frank; treasured grandmother of Jenna (Bryan) Kupets, Erik (Kimberly) Sobczak, Anthony and Adamo Legghio, Francesco, Brianna, Leah Dixon, Nolan, and the late Cassandra; proud and adored great grandmother "GG Kitty" of Maxx, Myles, Penelope, and Harlow; cherished sister of Josephine (Frank) Ruggirello. Kitty was predeceased by her parents, and her siblings Concetta, Mary, Margret, Joseph, and Benedetta. She's survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She also had a loving relationship with her "adopted daughter", Mary Rock. Kitty's life was filled with many happy moments and wonderful memories. Her family was the center of her world. She and our father loved being a part of their grandchildren's lives, from being Santa and Mrs. Claus at Christmas, to reading, coloring, singing Dormi Dormi to lull them to sleep, and attending their extra-curricular activities.
She instilled in all of us the importance of compassion, respect and kindness towards others. She created a loving, welcoming and fun atmosphere within our home for family and friends, and always made sure no one left hungry! Kitty was a wonderful cook and created many beautiful memories and delicious meals in her kitchen that our entire family will carry with us forever.
Kitty will be remembered for her life led by faith, her devotion to family and friends, and her generous spirit. Her legacy includes traveling to the family cottage in Lexington and winter home in Florida, talking on the phone to family and friends, praying the rosary, her love of dogs, decorating for the holidays, music, playing cards, and reading.
Kitty's family also wishes to acknowledge and express their heartfelt love for the kindness and care from the caregivers at Rose Senior Living, Seasons Hospice and her dear friend Simone Bell. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2019. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Rd. (Btw 17 & 18 Mile) Sterling Heights. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Catherine's honor are appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105) or Seasons Hospice (6400 Shafer Ct.
