Frances Marian (Shafer) Czirr, 86, of Elgin, Texas, formally of St. Joseph, Michigan, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Bob Confer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Church of God. Frances was born to Albert and Clara (Hoge) Shafer on October 15,1926. She grew up in Baroda, Michigan, where she was member of the Baroda High School Bulldog boy's softball team. Frances completed her registered nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO. During her 86 years she was a cub scout den mother, women's fellowship leader, TOPS leader, and she was instrumental in starting the hearing impaired school for Berrien County in the 1960's. Frances loved attending bible studies and volunteering at the First Church of God. She enjoyed visiting all of her kids and volunteered at her grandchildren's schools as well as attending many of their sporting and school events. Frances was a true fan of the M Go Blue football team. She was very creative. Frances designed many memorable birthday cakes, ranging from princess dolls to racecars, for her family. Frances was a woman of strong core values and she passed them on to everyone that knew her. She was a true blessing to this world and she touched many lives throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Sigfried Czirr, granddaughter Lindsy Wing, and sister Marjorie (Shafer) Troxell . She is survived by her son James Czirr of Sandpoint, Idaho, and his children Elizabeth, Eric, and James and his wife Joelle; son George Czirr and his wife Lois of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and his children Carrie and Katie; daughter Kay (Czirr) Wing and her husband Jordan Wing of Elgin, Texas, and her children Cuyler and Jenna; and son, Carl Czirr and his wife Brenda of Brooklyn, Ohio, and his children Micah, Carenda, Daniel and Timothy. She is also survived by her siblings Don Shafer, Albert Shafer, Elaine Fowler, Jim Shafer and many nieces and nephews.
