Obituary

Messens, Georgian "Jean" (nee Pogletke) was born in Detroit, MI on Feb. 6, 1935 to Agnes Wozniak and George Pogletke. She attended Assumption Grotto grade school and Nativity High School. She worked for many years as a grocery cashier for different stores in the metro Detroit area. She made time to be a Girl Scout and Cub Scout mom, enjoyed camping with her family, playing cards, music, reading and dancing. She was always welcoming, never too busy to help someone, to share a smile or a cup of coffee. Her advice and her laughter will be greatly missed. Jean is survived by her children Melanie(David)Pauch, Jeffrey(Diana)Messens and Renee(Rick)VanderHagen; grandchildren Rick VanderHagen III and Martin VanderHagen; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by Remi "Mickey" Messens, grandson Michael James Messens, parents Agnes and George; sisters Marian(Ralph)Faccuito; Theresa(Lyle)Hill; Pauline(Nicholas)Spencer; and brother George "Hank" Pogletke. Visitation Friday 3-9pm with a 7pm Rosary at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr Rd. at Metro Pkwy(16 Mile Rd.) Funeral Saturday Instate 11:30am at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church 41300 Romeo Plank, Clinton Twp. until time of Mass at 12 Noon. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
