Catherine M Ciesielski-Kijek of Rochester Hills passed away peacefully at home at the age of 69 on January 22, 2019. She was the beloved daughter of the late Marion and Eleanor Ciesielski, loving sister to Ron (Carol) and Ken, and loving Aunt to Cam, Quinn, Cody and Kaden. She has many cousins, extended family and friends. who she loved dearly and in turn enriched her life.
Cathy graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English Literature and a Masters Degree in Education from Oakland University in Rochester. Her teaching career spanned 40 years at Brandon High School in Ortonville where her passion for education, and commitment to her students was an inspiration to those around her..
In addition to teaching, Cathy also directed and produced countless school plays, managed the school yearbook, and was the Editor of the school newspaper. After retirement she continued to teach part time at local area community colleges.
In her personal life, Cathy was an accomplished pianist, and a wonderful cook who enjoyed making meals that would bring family and friends together. She had a love for the arts that included theater, concerts, and museums. Cathy also had a special place in her heart for animals of all kinds, especially her dogs Sunshine, Lady, and Mandy.
Cathy was optimistic, compassionate, and always did everything she could for those around her. Her selflessness was one of her most endearing qualities as she spent many years as caregiver for her parents and her Aunt Mary and Aunt Gene. Cathy also believed in living a full life and embodied the motto "Carpe Diem" each and every day.
Cathy touched the lives of so many and will be greatly missed. In her time here, Cathy's many acts of kindness has left this world a better place. God Bless you Cathy. We love you!
The family is planning a funeral mass and a special gathering to celebrate Cathy's life which will take place in the near future. Once details are finalized the family will share a date and time.
Cathy had three charities that were close to her heart and if you wish to make a donation in her honor, they are the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, and The Michigan Humane Society. Please indicate which you prefer.
