GORECKI, Faye Kathleen (nee: Alfsen), of Harbor Springs, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital, Petoskey at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Faye was the most loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to her family. Her family will forever miss her open and giving heart and her unconditional love and support.
She was born in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Carl and Evelyn (Ridan) Alfsen and graduated from Warren High School in the class of 1965. She went on to graduate from Wayne State University. On July 25, 1969, she married Gerald Gorecki and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She worked at and retired from the United States Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in Warren, Michigan. Faye enjoyed gardening, keeping active, riding her Harley and being a snowbird, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Faye is survived by her husband, Gerald; her daughter, Tracy (Duane) Martin; son, Jeffrey Gorecki; and grandchildren, Makenzie and Bryce; she is also survived by one sister, Roxanne Alfsen (Richard Jenkins); nephews, Scott (Tara) Johnson and Paul Johnson; great nephew, Aiden and great niece Ashtyn; in addition to her sister-in-law, Marianna Copioli.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital and McLaren Home Care & Hospice for the excellent care shown to Faye and her family.
Those wishing to make a charitable contribution in Faye's memory are suggested by family to do so to the McLaren Home Care & Hospice Program.
