January 15, 2019. Age 95. Beloved husband of the late Madeline (nee Deeby). Dearest father of Mary (the late Bob Schlaf) Safie, Theresa (the late Adnan) Madoun, Rene (Juan) Leal, the late George, Jr. (the late Lila Joseph) Safie and the late John Safie. Loving grandfather of Natalie, Theresa Hope and Jasmine. Dear brother of Eleanor (Thomas) Deeby, Gloria Safie-Tactac, the late Mary (the late George) Rashid, the late Madeline (the late Eddie) Salem, the late Louis (Theresa) Safie and the late Charles (Joanne) Safie. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Safie retired as owner & CEO of Safie Brothers Farm Pickle Company where he was a pioneer and visionary in the food industry. George was a trustee in Chesterfield Township for many years as well as an active member of the Alhambra Braga Caravan #114, Chesterfield Lions Club and K of C, 4th Degree, Mt. Clemens. Visitation Saturday 3-9pm and Sunday 2-9pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Trisagion Prayers Sunday 7:00pm. Instate Monday 10:00am until 11:00am time of funeral at Our Lady of Redemption Melkite Church, 29293 Lorraine. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, New Baltimore, MI.
