Kennedy, James William April 17, 2018 Age 83. Beloved husband of Janet (nee Harris). Loving father of James Scott Kennedy, Sherry (Garry) England, Michael Kennedy (John Lyon) and Phillip Kennedy (Larry Blocton). Proud grandfather of Dustin, Jason, Jacob, Mark and Brian and great grandfather of eight. Dearest brother of Darlene Kahrs and the late Douglas (Barbara) Kennedy. Jim loved his family, his work and sports. He was one of the early computer technicians at GM and after working there for over 30 years transitioned to EDS for 10 years. Jim was lucky to have a long retirement and traveled extensively with Jan, family and friends. Jim and Jan spent long periods in southern California or Florida as snowbirds, either renting or at their daughter's home on Marco Island, FL. They also co-owned a home with their son Mike in St. Augustine, Florida for ten years.Golf was his passion and he was a top notch golfer both as a junior and throughout his life. He played in several leagues over the years and rarely broke 40 for nine holes. Many of his children and grandchildren share his love of golf and they spent countless hours either playing or talking about golf. Other fond memories include the good times spent with his brother and their wives and kids. Especially Doug and Barb (Jim's brother married Jan's sister). Also Bob and Norm Tyler which included some fond travels to Texas. There were also many trips to Vegas with family & friends. "Deuces Wild & Black Jack"! Jim enjoyed many other sports including baseball (go Tigers), fishing, and bowling. Jim and his family were co-founders at their church (see below) and were involved in all aspects of church life for 45 years including building the church, bible study and serving the homeless through the MCREST program.Visitation Sun. 1:30-7:00 pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Inc.
