MERKOURIS, Nikitas Paul. May 17, 2019. Age 84. Beloved husband of Flora for 52 years. Loving father of Sophia Merkouris-Kokalas (Christos) and Pauline Anderson (Erick). Proud and loving Papou of Flora, Giorgios and Nicoletta. Dear brother of Jimmy Merkouris (Theano), Anastasia Milios (Pete) and the late Vasilios Merkourios (Barbara). Mr. Merkouris was born in Rhodes, Greece and immigrated to the United States in 1963. He was a succesful businessman and owner of the former Bouzouki Lounge until 1999. Nikitas will be remembered by all who knew him for his kind heart and generosity; he especially loved helping young students who immigrated to the United States get their start here and was always willing to help those in need. He was also very social and enjoyed the time he spent with his many friends. More than anything else in life, Nikitas loved his family and being with them whenever possible. Visitation Monday 3-9pm with a 7pm Trisagion at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Tuesday 10am until time of 10:30am funeral Liturgy at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 11455 Metropolitan Parkway (at Dodge Park), Sterling Hts. Interment, Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township. Memorial contributions to St. John Greek Orthodox Church are appreciated.
