AMOROSO, THOMAS JOHN Age 84, passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2018. He was born on February 20, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to Gaetano (John) Amoroso and Julia (Sherman). Thomas graduated from Manual Training High School in Brooklyn, New York in 1951 and later graduated from the University of Detroit. Thomas served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Wayne in Detroit, Michigan. It is here in Detroit where Thomas met his future bride, Beverly Winkler. On June 6, 1959, they were married at St. Anthony Church. Together, they had three sons and one daughter. Thomas and Beverly bought their first home together in Detroit then a few years later they settled in Harper Woods, Michigan, where they raised their family. They enjoyed traveling together as well as spending most of their time with family and friends. Thomas worked for General Motors, Cadillac Motor Car Division in Detroit for 36 years. Beloved husband of nearly 59 years to Beverly. Loving father of Michael (Kathy), Marc (Therese), Steven (Debbie), and daughter, Jennifer Brown (Michael). Proud Grandfather of Thomas Amoroso, Lauren Aggeler (Mike), Brittney Amoroso, Holly Amoroso, Paige Amoroso, Ally Amoroso, Michael Brown, Sophia Brown and great-grandgrandfather of Kylie Amoroso-Moore. Dearest brother of Jacqueline Anselmo of Farmbrook, North Carolina. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Dolores Keegan of Cairo, NY and Joan Ownbey of Oceanside, NY. The family is having a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Great Lakes Hospice of your choice or to a military veteran organization.
